The Shenkman Arts Centre has just installed Michael Parkin’s enormous kinetic sculpture Spectrum 4.  At 5m tall, the brightly colored, mobile is among the largest indoor works of public art in the city.  The slowly undulating form dominates the atrium in front of Harold Shenkman Hall, lifting people’s spirits and bringing on smiles.

The Spectrum 4 mobile was created specifically for the Centre and was supported in part by a grant from the ARTicipate Endowment Fund.  The Shenkman Arts Centre located at 245 Centrum Boulevard in Orléans is the City of Ottawa’s premier venue for visual and performing arts.

Michael Parkin, the mobile’s creator is a long time resident of Ottawa and has a studio on Young St. in the city’s Little Italy neighborhood.
